Privacy Policy for Moodilo

Effective Date: August 16, 2026
Last Updated: August 16, 2026

Moodilo (“Moodilo”, “the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a mood and emotion journaling application designed to help users record and reflect on their feelings privately and quickly.

Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Moodilo accesses, stores, uses, exports, and handles information when you use the App.

1. Summary

Moodilo is designed as a local-first application.

  • No account or registration is required to use the App.
  • Mood journal entries are stored locally on your device.
  • Moodilo does not operate a cloud service for storing your journal entries.
  • We do not intentionally transmit your mood entries or journal notes to our servers.
  • The App does not require notification, location, camera, microphone, contacts, or health sensor permissions for its core functionality.
  • Data export is initiated by you.

2. Information You Enter Into Moodilo

When using Moodilo, you may create information such as:

  • selected mood or emotion;
  • mood intensity;
  • optional journal notes or reasons;
  • date and time associated with an entry.

This information is used to provide Moodilo’s core features, including mood history, filtering, reports, charts, statistics, and exports.

This information is stored locally in the App’s database on your device.

3. Information We Collect

Moodilo does not intentionally collect or receive your mood journal content on developer-operated servers.

The App does not require you to provide:

  • your name;
  • email address;
  • phone number;
  • account credentials;
  • precise or approximate location;
  • contacts;
  • photos or videos;
  • microphone recordings;
  • health sensor data.

If the App is changed in the future to collect or transmit additional data, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when those changes take effect, as applicable.

4. How Your Data Is Used

Information stored in Moodilo is processed locally to provide features such as:

  • displaying recent mood entries;
  • showing your mood history;
  • filtering entries by mood or date;
  • calculating daily, weekly, and monthly insights;
  • displaying mood charts and statistics;
  • identifying frequently occurring words in optional notes where this feature is enabled;
  • creating data exports requested by you.

Your journal information is not used by Moodilo for advertising or behavioral profiling.

5. Data Sharing

Moodilo does not intentionally share your mood entries or journal notes with third parties.

However, when you choose to export, save, open, or share a file, the destination app, storage provider, or service you select may receive that exported data.

For example, if you save or share an exported CSV, PDF, or backup file using another app or cloud storage provider, that third party may process the file under its own privacy policy.

Moodilo does not control how third-party apps or services handle files after you choose to provide those files to them.

6. Data Export and Backup

Moodilo may allow you to export your information in formats such as:

  • CSV;
  • PDF;
  • full-data backup formats supported by the App.

Exports occur only when initiated by you.

Depending on your device and the option you select, exported files may be saved to a folder, document provider, cloud storage provider, or another application chosen through Android’s system file or sharing interface.

Once an exported file leaves Moodilo’s private app storage, its security and privacy depend on the location or service you choose.

You should avoid storing sensitive journal exports in locations that can be accessed by people or applications you do not trust.

7. Data Storage and Retention

Mood entries remain stored locally on your device until they are deleted through the App, the App’s data is cleared, or the App is removed in a way that deletes its local data.

Moodilo provides controls for deleting stored journal information, including a Delete All Data function.

Deleting exported files that were previously saved outside the App must be done separately from the location or service where those files were saved.

8. Device Backup

Android devices and device manufacturers may provide operating-system-level backup or restore features.

Whether App data is included in a device backup depends on Moodilo’s application configuration, your Android version, device settings, and backup provider.

Moodilo does not operate its own cloud synchronization service for journal entries.

If device backup behavior changes in a future release, this Privacy Policy may be updated accordingly.

9. Permissions

Moodilo is designed to minimize permissions.

Its core mood-journaling functionality does not require access to:

  • notifications;
  • location;
  • contacts;
  • camera;
  • microphone;
  • health sensors.

File export or restore functionality may use Android’s system document or sharing interfaces. These interfaces may allow you to select files or locations without granting Moodilo broad access to all files on your device.

If a future version requires an additional permission, Moodilo will request it only where necessary for the relevant feature.

10. Security

Moodilo uses the security protections provided by Android, including application sandboxing and private app storage for its local database.

We aim to minimize the amount of information exposed outside the App.

However, no device, software, storage method, or security system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and for choosing secure locations when exporting your journal data.

11. Third-Party Services

Moodilo’s core journaling features are designed to work without sending your journal content to a Moodilo backend.

Distribution platforms, operating-system providers, device manufacturers, file providers, or other third-party services you independently use may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

For example, if you obtain Moodilo through Google Play, Google may process information related to app distribution, installation, security, payments (if applicable), or store functionality under Google’s own policies. Such processing is controlled by Google rather than Moodilo.

If Moodilo later integrates any third-party SDK that collects or transmits user data, this Privacy Policy and the App’s applicable disclosures will be updated to reflect that behavior.

12. Advertising

Moodilo’s current design does not use journal content for advertising.

If advertising is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain any related data practices before or when the change takes effect, as applicable.

13. Analytics and Crash Reporting

Moodilo does not intentionally include mood entries or journal notes in analytics events.

If analytics or crash-reporting tools are introduced or used, they must not be configured to intentionally send journal content unless this Privacy Policy and any required user disclosures and choices are updated accordingly.

14. Children’s Privacy

Moodilo is designed primarily for adults and is not intended as a children’s service.

We do not knowingly design the App to collect personal information from children through developer-operated accounts or servers.

If the intended audience of Moodilo changes in the future, the App and this Privacy Policy will be reviewed and updated to address applicable requirements.

15. Your Choices and Controls

You can control your Moodilo data by:

  • choosing whether to add an optional journal note;
  • reviewing your stored mood entries;
  • filtering or viewing your history;
  • exporting information when you choose;
  • deleting data through the App;
  • clearing the App’s local data through Android settings;
  • uninstalling the App.

Because Moodilo does not require a cloud account for its core functionality, there is no Moodilo online account that you need to delete.

16. International Use

Moodilo may be available to users in different countries.

The App is designed to store journal information locally rather than on Moodilo-operated servers. Your device, operating system, app store, storage provider, or any third-party service you choose may be subject to the laws and privacy practices applicable in your region.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Moodilo’s features, technology, data practices, or legal requirements change.

When changes are made, the Last Updated date at the top of this policy will be revised.

Material changes affecting how user data is collected, used, or shared should be reflected in the App and relevant store disclosures as required.
